Memento Mori is a ritual song, neither lyrical nor funereal, a song of colour whose notes are flesh, thrusts, organs. They withdraw, abandon, and fill with cruelty and delight in depths whose intimacy is offered up as a mirror to whoever looks at the monster within. A baroque opera, composed and conducted by an inspired hand on the frontier of many kingdoms.
