ORDINARY MAN

A finance executive and photographer, Jérôme Müller has made Ordinary Man the place where his two lives converge. Against a backdrop of an urban dawn view, taken from one of the cities where his work takes him, he has hand-copied one of his professional reports—a document whose information loses its value the moment it is produced. Through a craft-like gesture, the photograph preserves what the pace of finance condemns to immediate obsolescence. The most prosaic everyday life becomes a palimpsest; the city is veiled by its own exhausted narrative, and the image retains the words for which no one now has any use.
