With LA LEVÉE DES CORPS, the artist continues her research with an installation exhibition conceived and produced in situ. Commissioned by the Valais State Archives in 2021, the photographer took on the role of an archivist and looked at the files of people who took their own lives between 1910 and 1960. These are often hidden stories of suicide, which paradoxically turn up in the cantonal archives in the written records of police investigations and family reports. The artist immersed herself in these non-public documents, cleaning, photographing and digitising them. In this exhibition, she brings these stories out of silence and brings them to light through a variety of media: photographs, archive reproductions, videos and sound recordings.
