Le mur

This photograph is part of the series “Corée du Nord” (North Korea)

In the 21st century, North Korea is a political anomaly. The most closed country in the world, it is a voluntary recluse, with information reaching us only in fragments. To try to better understand this land of fantasy, it was necessary to meet North Koreans in person, on the ground. This is the adventure undertaken by Adrien Golinelli, who joined a group of tourists selected and guided by the government. In his images, the other side of the story emerges from beneath the surface: places that bear the marks of their own staging, glances that reveal the individual beneath the uniform. Questioning the relationship between the visible and the hidden, he pushes us to rethink our view of a little-known country, revealing an unexpected other side to the story.
