Born in 1966 and trained at the CEPV in Vevey in the 1980s, Xavier Voirol works today as an independent photographer for private companies and the press, while pursuing personal projects that have led to several residencies abroad (Cité des Arts, Paris; Kulturstiftung Landis&Gyr, Berlin; Swiss Cities Conference studio, Genoa; Canton of Bern studio, New York) as well as regular exhibitions and awards (Kodak Award, Arles; Bern Photography Prize 1992; Fondation Lachat Prize 2016; Fondation Léonard Gianadda Mécénat Prize 2022). He is the author of several books, published mainly by Zoé and Labor&Fides (Geneva), Le Bec en l’air (Marseille), Light Motiv (Lille), and ActEditions (Geneva).
He lives and works in La Chaux-de-Fonds, where he has been based since 2002.
